I considered not watching the debate between the President and his convicted felon opponent. No matter what transpired during the event, it was not going to change my vote. I would never, under any circumstances, vote for Biden’s opponent. Never, never, never, Never. As I’ve said before, whatever the distance is between Leavenworth and Washington is as close as that bastard should ever get to the White House.
However, I thought it was my civic duty to watch this . . . whatever it was. Also, I thought I might want to make a few comments about it, and it would be wrong to comment on something I hadn’t bothered to watch.
It was sad to see Joe Biden at the recent debate. And alarming. I wish I did not have to say this, but, as he walked to his podium, my heart sank. He did not stride with vigor and strength, he shuffled like a feeble octogenarian. He spoke in a rushed whisper. He seemed unable to effectively fact check on the fly the many lies spewed forth by his convicted felon opponent.
It is not unreasonable to wonder if the Joe Biden we saw at the debate, is who he really is at this point in his life. Also, it is not unreasonable to believe he simply had a bad night. It was said afterward that the President was battling a cold. Maybe he was. However, that kind of information should have been released before the event. It just seems like excuse-making, after the fact.
The President came across as a frail, old man. It is possible for someone to be frail and old, and still be sharp as a tack mentally. However, he sometimes seemed confused and unable to focus. Unfortunately for him, that is what people will remember. They go by what they see. Perception is everything, especially in today’s culture. That’s just the way it is.
After an hour or so of torture, I had had enough. I couldn’t watch any more. Beforehand, my hope was to see a vigorous and strong Biden stomp all over the convicted felon. Even his most ardent supporters had to admit the President’s performance was terrible and it reinforced the perception some voters have that he is too feeble and weak to be running for another term.
A sharp, on-the-ball Joe Biden would have been able to counter the numerous lies gushing forth from his degenerate felon opponent. I’ve written multiple times about the so-called border “crisis”. A sharp, on-the-ball Joe Biden, after the felon had blathered his nonsensical bullshit about the border, could have spoken to the felon directly and said something like this,
“There are two possible scenarios here and only one is true. Number one, if the border crossers truly are all murderers and rapists and criminals and terrorists like you say, and our country is in grave, immediate danger from this massive hoard pouring into our country, why then would you tell Republicans to tank a bipartisan bill that would have addressed the border crisis, only for the simple reason, as you said openly, it would have helped me politically? Is that how you protect America in a “crisis”? Putting your political needs before what’s best for the United States of America? That is treason in my book.
“If the first scenario is not true, then the second has to be true. And that is, you wildly exaggerated the severity of the problems at the border for your own political gain. Meaning there is no “crisis”, just the politics of fear and hate-mongering as usual from you and your kind. You knew that killing the bipartisan bill would not put America in grave danger. So you decided to play political games with it. Which makes you a selfish, America-hating liar who is unfit to lead our great country. Of course, we already knew that. So, which is it? Are you a treasonous liar or a selfish, America-hating liar? Or both?”
The trap was set, however, Joe was unable to spring it.
Another missed opportunity was when the lying liar convicted felon said the President’s troubled son, Hunter, was also a convicted felon. I wish Joe Biden would have said,
“My son, Hunter, has had his share of problems, many self inflicted, and he will suffer the consequences of his actions. But, he is not like you. You know what the biggest difference is? Hunter is not running for president. You are. You are the only convicted felon in this election. You. You are the one convicted of 34 felonies by a jury, you are the one who was adjudged to have sexually assaulted a woman in a department store dressing room, you are the one who owes nearly half a billion dollars in penalties for your despicable actions, you are the one who was impeached twice, you are the one who incited and prolonged a riot at our Capitol, and you are the one who tried to steal an election. Whatever my son did or did not do, is irrelevant to the reason we are here today. So go fuck yourself.” (Okay, maybe that last thing would not have been very presidential.)
Well, where do we go from here? Can Joe Biden recover from this? Possibly he can, however, his row just got a hell of a lot tougher to hoe. People are not going to be able to unsee that debate performance. It is going to take vigor and strength, demonstrated over and over again on the campaign trail, to counteract what everyone witnessed. Does Joe Biden have the ability to do it? If he doesn’t, what’s the plan? We the voters have to know; it is not hyperbole to say our democracy hangs in the balance.
It seems to me, President Biden has three choices. If he comes to the decision that he simply is not up to the job anymore, he could resign immediately, thereby anointing Kamala Harris as his successor and giving her the advantage of incumbency in the election. It would be a bold and unprecedented move.
Or, he could announce his withdrawal from the race, but serve out his term. He could still throw his support to his loyal vice president, but it might open the field to others who wish to make a play for the nomination.
Or, he could roll the dice and simply declare he had a bad night, and that he has no intention of quitting, and he will prove to the American people he is worthy of their votes. It would be shocking if he did not choose this option.
Each of these choices is fraught with peril for the Democrats. If Biden abdicates, and the Dems cannot quickly coalesce behind another candidate, be it the Vice President or someone else, then there’s a real possibility of a chaotic, divisive Democratic convention that only helps the convicted felon Republican nominee. If they ride it out with a diminished Joe Biden, and he is unable to change the minds of voters who believe he is not up to the task, that seems like a November disaster just waiting to happen.
Personally, I believe a young, strong, vigorous opponent is what frightens the Republican cult the most. And, I also believe there would be no shame in the President saying, “I am no longer up to the demands of the Presidency, so I am going to bow out, thereby allowing America to move forward.” His legacy would be secure as a man of character who put his country above his own ambitions.
I am on the record as saying that both candidates in the 2020 Presidential election were too old. And, four years later, each of those candidates secured the nomination of his party to run for President again. What’s wrong with this picture?
There are valid concerns about the President’s fitness for office. It is up to him and his team to dispel those concerns. As for his convicted felon opponent, there are no questions about his fitness, as he proved to be completely, totally, without a doubt, UNFIT for office years ago. In a just world, he would be the one facing calls to drop out. He’s weak, he’s a loser, he’s a coward, and he’s a liar. And, he’s a criminal. He has shown through his incoherent ramblings on the campaign trail, that he has his own serious cognitive issues. Biden was awful on debate night, his felonious opponent has been awful his entire miserable life. But, that doesn’t matter to the cultist Republican sheep.
If Joe Biden is still on the ballot in November, I will vote for him. Despite his weak debate performance, Joe is a better choice than the fascist degenerate alternative. It’s not even close. However, would I prefer a different candidate?
Yes.
I get that the President’s team wants to dispel any notion of Joe Biden not being on the ticket. However, it is not facing reality to pretend the debate debacle doesn’t matter. The candidate who almost everyone would concede did poorly, Joe Biden, has important questions to answer. Is he really up to being the leader of the free world? Will his legacy be his performance at that debate? Do the President’s family and staff and supporters honestly believe this disaster was an aberration? If so, they better be right. Because the attacks on his fitness for office are unlikely to go away unless he is capable of proving them wrong.
Should Joe go? Well, he has earned the right to make that decision himself. There is still sand in the hourglass, but it is running out quickly.

Do you have something to say about Should Joe Go? Well, then . . .
Yes; sadly, yes. And I noticed you did not refer to the SCOTUS nightmare-ruling (which is unfortunately linked to the nightmare-potential-outcome no matter what the Biden decision is): these things combined are what will lead to some of us feeling the need to pack our bags. 😞
