Who is to blame for the mess that is the United States of America these days? Obviously, with America being as screwed up as it is now, the current President is at the top of the blame list. He, the man who shall not be named, is the worst human being to ever sit in the Oval Office. And the buck stops on his ketchup-stained desk.
But, he is way too ignorant and addlebrained to have gotten there on his own, So, who else is to blame for helping the Lying Liar get to the White House? Twice. Let’s take a look.
The Stupid Voters
Well, those who voted for a criminal have a great deal of responsibility for the current disaster. The occupant of the White House should be reporting to his parole officer instead of being President of the United States.
The confounding aspect of this is not that he got the votes of his feeble-minded cultists. That was to be expected. What’s confounding is that some otherwise reasonably intelligent, decent Americans voted for him, too. They have been known to say things like, “I don’t care for him as a person, but I like his policies.”, or some such bullshit.
Like the policies can be separated from the person. News Flash: They can’t.
The Lying Liar is actually the perfect candidate for anyone who is for: insurrections, sexual assault, felonies, racism, and lies. He has proven himself totally unfit to serve as President under any circumstances. Yet, people voted for him anyway.
I get that some folks have voted Republican since forever and could never choke down the liberal, progressive agenda and vote for a Democrat. But, you voted FOR a lying liar scumbag criminal! You could have abstained! But, you didn’t. Damn. So, at least in part, the difficult times ahead are on you.
Mitch McConnell and the Republicans in Congress
Mitch McConnell. Mitch fucking McConnell. Good gosh, he has quite a body of work, doesn’t he? His singular devotion to what is best for his party is actually kind of impressive, in a horrifyingly destructive sort of way. Like watching a huge tsunami wipe out a coastal village. The raw power is fascinating to see, just don’t think about the devastation left in its wake.
McConnell left a lot of devastation in his wake during his time as Senate Republican leader. He actually hates the Orange Felon and knew the scumbag was not worthy to serve in the Oval Office, yet McConnell helped him as best he could, and fought against removing the guy after the first and second impeachments. McConnell could have saved America from the worst President in American history, but his political views meant more to him than what was best for America.
McConnell’s masterful manipulation of Supreme Court vacancies, enabling the Criminal to nominate three Supreme Court justices, is greatly responsible for what is happening today. McConnell, in effect, stole one seat on the Supreme Court during Barack Obama’s last year as President by refusing to bring it to a vote, and then, showing his devious versatility, he did a 180 and rammed through another Supreme Court appointment in record time, during the last year of the Orange Turd’s first term after Ruth Bader Ginsburg died in September of 2020.
Which led to the Supreme Court ruling in favor of giving Presidents immunity for their actions in office, flushing the doctrine of no one being above the law in this country right down the crapper. I don’t think ol’ Mitch gave a damn as long as his political view of the country was served.
Mitch McConnell’s blind allegiance to his political ideology over what was best for America, made him a formidable adversary. It also has set him up for a great deal of blame for the disasters caused by the Criminal-in-Chief during the next few years.
The Supreme Court
Speaking of the Supreme Court . . .
The Founders never intended for the President to be above the law. There are supposed to be checks and balances over each branch of government. But the current, illegitimate Supreme Court said, “Oh hell, who needs checks and balances when we have a guy in the office who will follow our ideology and do what we want?”
The Supreme Court decision giving presidents immunity for actions taken while in office is another in a steaming pile of bad decisions by a branch of government which, in theory, should be free of partisan politics.
The Supreme Court we have today is not that.
What’s to stop a criminal president, like, say, the one we currently have, from doing whatever the hell he wants without regard to the laws of the land? Some might say, “Well, if he does wrong, he could be impeached. There are your checks and balances.” Ha, don’t make me laugh. We tried that before, remember? It takes 67 Senators to convict in an impeachment trial. Who among the asskissing Republicans in the Senate today can be counted on to do the right thing and vote to convict a criminal Republican President? What number is less than zero? (I guess that last question is a bit unfair. There may be a small handful of Republican Senators who would find enough spine to convict. Not enough to make a difference, though.)
The partisan majority on the Court has brought our country closer to a despotic monarchy than ever before.
I wish Joe Biden had had the guts and energy to take that grant of immunity from the Supreme Court and run with it. I wish he would taken whatever action was necessary to advance the Progressive agenda, and keep the Convicted Felon out of the White House.
That it has come to me wishing Joe Biden had acted more like his predecessor and successor, is one of many reasons why the Supreme Court is on my blame list.
The Democrats
Just because I am a Liberal, don’t think I will absolve the Democratic Party from blame for the mess that we are in as a nation. The Democrats screwed themselves and America when they let damn near half the country go over to the Republican Party without a fight.
Democrats were the party of the working class, not all that long ago. Many of the today’s red states used to send Democrats to Washington. But over the last half century, the Democratic Party has basically written off vast swaths of rural America. It was shortsighted and stupid.
Most polls show that, when stripped of political labels, many of the issues Democrats generally favor do very well among the voters. Like access to abortion, or investment in public education, or environmental protections, or providing a safety net for those in need, or support for our friends abroad, to name a few.
The failure of the Democrats to capitalize on being the party which is on the correct side of most issues is why they have to accept some blame for America’s ills.
The Racists
Let’s be blunt here - a lot of the popularity of the Convicted Felon is due to racism. He is the revenge for America having the audacity to elect a black man to the Presidency. Twice.
Everyone knows the Orange Idiot has been, without question, the favored candidate among white supremacists. What do you think the “big beautiful wall” at the Mexican border is all about? It is to keep the brown hoards from “poisoning the blood” of America.
He has never suggested building a wall along the Canadian border. Why is that? Canadians come and go across the border all the time. It couldn’t be because they look like “regular Americans” (read: white), could it?
Of course it could.
And, I’m sorry to say, too many white Americans lap that shit up. It’s embarrassing and shameful that so many among us are still so damn ignorant on the subject of race.

Merrick Garland
Merrick Garland may have been a wonderful Supreme Court Justice. But, thanks to Mitch McConnell, he never got the chance. When he was appointed Attorney General of the United States, I thought, okay, good for him. We need someone competent to bring all the criminals of the previous administration to justice.
Well, it didn’t turn out that way.
Garland should have gone after the criminals more forcefully right from the beginning. Especially, the disgraced ex-President who incited an insurrection at our nation’s Capitol. But, Merrick Garland futzed around and futzed around, and let too much time pass, allowing the disgraced ex-President to regroup and strengthen his hold on his cultists.
Maybe the Biden administration wanted to put the national nightmare of his criminal predecessor behind us, hoping he would simply fade away. However, the delay gave hope to those who wanted to see the Putin-lover in the White House again.
Merrick Garland should have aggressively squashed the criminal ex-President and fought to imprison him for his crimes against America. By not doing that in a timely manner, Merrick Garland shares the blame for a convicted felon living in the White House.
Folks Like Me
When assigning blame for the current debacle, I can’t help but blame myself and my fellow Progressives for some of this. Ever since the Orange Turd announced for the Presidency in 2015, we have underestimated him. Obviously, he is a morally bankrupt idiot. He is also a raging narcissist devoid of any sense of caring or empathy for others, and is totally unsuited to serve in any elective office anywhere.
Yet, he has become President of the United States twice.
Goddamn.
I wish I had the answers as to why this has happened. Alas, I do not. However, I cannot shake the feeling there has to be something we could have done to prevent this abomination from happening. It is so obvious that this guy is a lying scumbag who should never be allowed to set foot in the White House, let alone live there.
I don’t know what we could have done, however the bottom line is, we Progressives tragically failed to keep him out of office.
We have to own some blame for that failure.
To my righteous subscribers, thank you for your support.
And, don’t be afraid to scroll to the bottom and hit that Like button! (But, only if you really mean it.)
Do you have something to say about The Shame of Blame? Well, then . . .
Hi Norm,
I agree with everything you said. I couldn't have said it better. But there is a group you left off the list who are just as responsible. It is the 89 million people who chose not to vote. I have been told that overall there are more registered Democrats than Republicans. So they should share in the blame. People just don't pay close attention to politics like you and I do. But I bet they're paying attention now!
Another culprit should be our education system. Kids aren't being taught how to be critical thinkers. They are all zombies being pumped full of misinformation and social media. And the fact that they are erasing truth about discrimination and white washing history. How could they possibly be grounded in reality?
I 100% stand by what you said about Mitch McConnell. If we look at what single person made all of this possible, it would be him. It's shameful that he allowed the Orange menace to get the opportunity to run for office again. That responsibility lies squarely on his shoulders. I hope he has trouble sleeping at night seeing our country being destroyed because of his bad decisions.
And don't get me started on the Supreme Court. They are so corrupt.
And Merrick Garland was a huge disappointment. I get that he was afraid that prosecuting Trump would cause a riot, but look at the alternative. If something isn't done to remove Trump, we are stuck in a dumpster fire for the next 4 years.
And he's just crashed the stock market and the economy. At this rate, I don't see how we are ever going to get back to normal.
Your righteous anger is justified. I just wish more Americans were just as angry and would stand up and do something! Particularly the spinelss cowards in Congress.
Couldn’t agree with you more…… want to find better ways to make more of a
Contribution to fight this
Horrific situation…… “stealing
