Oh yeah, this was a good one that hit home. Me, an OG (Old Gal) myself agrees with the loud noise. I can hardly go out to a restaurant without wanting to hold up a quiet sign. Do people talk that loud at home? Do the kids scream that much? If so, why didn't they get a baby sitter instead of bringing them along for the rest of us to not enjoy our meal?
I haven't been to a movie for a long time, but when I do I want to go up to the projection room, bat the guy on the back of the head and tell him to turn the damn sound down. I'm not in the war, I just want to see it and hear what the characters are trying to say.
Is there a good old smokey jazz bar or somewhere you can have a date and actually hear the person across the table talk to you? Where is it?
Okay, I'm pretty sure it's because I live in a house with almost complete silence, unless the dog barks at the doorbell or a dog on the TV screen. Perhaps that is the problem. Sound, of almost any kind, is too much for me. And yet, my doctor says I am losing my hearing in one ear. Really? They why do I want to stick a piece of tissue in my ears when I'm in a rowdy concert? Okay, I don't go to them anymore either.
Re NBA Basketball...I haven't been to once since 1975 to a Denver Nuggets game. Someone bought me the ticket. It was fun and then, I didn't notice the sound...I think because they were losing....and I was young. Now, it costs so much to go I don't know how you can afford it. I guess all that "free loud entertainment" is for you to get your money's worth out of the game that maybe your home team is losing.
My favorite too loud places to be are at football games. Denver Broncos during John Elway days was amazing...and okay, I was still young then, too. But it was rocking!
Same as watching a Cincinnati Bengals game when they were in the playoffs at home. The crowd lifted me out of my seat. It was such fun!! We all cheered together...imagine that? Together. All Politics be damned! We are all Bengals when we enter this stadium. That is the best loud ever...we laugh together, drink together and cry together...when we win...or lose.
I want those times again. They make me feel young...like everyone else around me. Sound doesn't bother me there.
Hey, Norm, we aren't older, we're just wiser. Mark it down to experience. Make your choices wisely. Pick your venues wisely...don't pay too much for noise you don't really want to hear.
Thanks for your comments, Kate. For me, getting older is recognizing my limitations, but at the same time, realizing that I ain’t dead yet. I do not want to mourn the abilities I’ve lost to age. I want to focus on the things I still am able do that are enjoyable to me.

Me, too. I hope to get back to the Keys one day. You have my support. Kate
Thank you, Kate.
I ain't dead yet is where I want to continue to be as long as possible. There are things I want to do and places I still want to go.
