Norm, you hit the nail on the head. I applaud you for your honesty and being able to call it like it is. I believe you are correct when you say all of the whining is about the loss of power. That is definitely why the majority of white men, and women, voted to put a convicted rapist and felon in the white house. They can't share power with the people they have been so determined to oppress.
I am a biracial female, like Kamala Harris. I have been passed over twice for a leadership position by two less qualified white men. One of them made me a target and tried to get me fired. He was one of the most insecure bullies I've ever had the displeasure to work with. White men will always put other white in positions of power, no matter how unqualified they are. Racism and sexism is a part of the every workplace culture. Things really haven't changed.
Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective, Sarah3000. I won’t pretend to know what it’s like to experience what you have experienced. Hopefully though, I can learn from listening to what other folks have been through. If all I ever paid attention to were the thoughts in my own head, I would never learn anything.
And, thank you for reading my stuff. It is much appreciated.
I am a fan of truth tellers and I see you as one. It takes courage to speak out even when the truth is not popular. I think we need more of that these days.
Thank you very much, Sarah. I try to put my truth out there as best I can and let the chips fall where they fall. Carrying the weight of the truth is easier than carrying the weight of a lie.
And, there is so much beauty and intelligence in biracial people. A mixture of all we can be and should be just by living amongst each other and sharing our cultural stories.
Thanks for your post. I've always believed that bad behavior was rooted in fear and found it interesting that throughout my never dull child/adult hood, being forthright and stepping forward was the most rewarding approach to life.
My brother (one of the whitest men I know) is unafflicted with the equine biosolids carried about by the whiners. We were brought up to take responsibility for our own actions, help care for the home (live here? do your part), and the classics--no lying to yourself (the worst) or committing the sins of commission and omission. Do not cheat or steal. Always do your best.
My parents have gone to their reward and we miss them; we are grateful always for how we were brought up. The whiners deserve pity up to a point. Then behavioral reinforcement has to come into play. Reward good behavior and (likely punishment not being an option) ignore those emissions of biosolids. Attention only encourages them.
Finally, one option is the technique of requesting an explanation. Teach them the difference between an excuse and a reason. Make them sit on their metaphorical bed until they can come out, offer up their reason, and engage in rational discussion. That might lead to good things.
Oh my gosh. This could be the 2024 Declaration of Independence, and Dependence, if You Wish.
I am so impressed. Please submit this to the New York Times, or at least someone there that would print it. Norm, this is ideal. This all true and so simple.
If I had my say, I would have any man castrated that committed a rape, or excuse me, order that they have a vasectomy. Sorry, that first variation was a farm girl's terminology. But, I bet it would cut down on rapes and hopefully, incest. Amazing that women are punished for getting pregnant and being told by guys like Vance, "you need to be more careful..." like they made the choice to be raped. When does the actual initial seed get its punishment. She wouldn't be pregnant without it. Let's go back to how this all happened in the first place.
Being a woman you do learn that men come first at work. They are paid more, and generally carry titles that put them in charge, and yet they use women to keep their office in order, to take notes, to do all the inside work while they head out for a golf game, or whatever, then take credit for all the work she does to make him look good, including correcting his language and spell checking his work. Have you noticed when the boss is out for a week there is nothing to do? That's because he has nothing to do. He just needs you there to pick up the phone and cover for him. However, if you are sick and out of the office, he has no idea where things are, nor how to type up a letter or take care of any follow up work without you. So when you return, no one has done anything to keep your desk caught up with his work. Your inbox is full and now you are two weeks behind, plus he is putting pressure on you to catch up because he is behind on his reports. This is why it's oftentimes wise to have a women be in charge. They are anyway, they just don't often get the title to take charge, nor the salary increase. I only know these things to be true because I worked for many years in management positions, and often as a peon under managers, who took afternoons off for "meetings" to play golf, or race their Porche at a nearby track with other office managers...things like that. Once, when I asked for a raise, my boss told me, "You need to get married so you don't have to worry about your income."
I can't compare pansies to the men you speak of. It is a slam on nature. But I sure understand every word you said here and this needs to be "out there", not just hidden here, amongst your substack followers.
Generally a woman raises her son...then he has a woman teacher in school...then he looks for a woman to live with him, for he has depended upon a woman all his life for nurturing him, washing and ironing, cleaning his house, cooking his food. It's all just part of the mad circle of life for a woman. Expectations come from upbringing and the natural order of things.
We all need to help each other and share with each other. It makes life so much more fun when everyone shares their duties, and help each other. We all learn from each other. There is no room in this world for hate. And, frankly, it's exhausting and demeaning for all of us, men and women, who have a lick of intelligence.
Thoughtful and passionate as always, Kate. Thanks for the kind words. I was very lucky my first job was in that bank, with those women, Berlinda, Maria, Regina, Helen, and Marty (short for Martha). I wasn't even aware at the time what I was learning from them. I only realized it years later. After a few years, we all went our separate ways, but I never forgot what they did for me.
Great post, Norm. This whole ‘poor White Man’ victimhood drama is just so damned ridiculous. To the MAGA crowd it’s practically mandatory to claim it as Gospel. Look at the asshat governor of Florida, fer God’s sakes. You can’t teach anything in the ‘Sunshine State’ schools that might shed a little light on the actual history of the state, or the country. No. That would be one little ray of sunshine just too bright for the shrinking violets populating Florida’s schoolrooms. Thanks to Florida law, any parent knows that they can notify the authorities if “My little Johnny was made to feel badly because he’s White.” So, when his teacher asks the class “How much would our third President, Thomas Jefferson, have accomplished if he didn’t personally own 600 slaves?” I’ll tell the Police, “Hey! This is the place where ‘Woke’ comes to die!” It’s also the place where Truth, Science, Intelligence, Critical Thinking, and Common Sense come to die. Repeatedly. Undeniably. Indubitably.
I was thinking of Florida when I wrote of teaching truth in schools. I remembered they didn’t want the history of slavery to be taught to FLA students. How in the world did the teaching of something other than actual, factual history ever become a thing in a class called “American History”? It’s mind-blowing. Thanks for commenting, Paul.
My comments are open to all subscribers, paid and free. I don’t know why your comment did not stick, Paul. I have not heard of this problem before. Could be some kind of temporary glitch, maybe? I hope that’s it.

Hi Norm,

Keep up the good work!

And there should be no weight in a lie....hence we are where we are.
Was well known in the business world as the "Good old boy network". Their support was only in their secret little club.
And, there is so much beauty and intelligence in biracial people. A mixture of all we can be and should be just by living amongst each other and sharing our cultural stories.

Thanks for your comment, tecolote42. Sounds like you’ve got a pretty good handle on this whole life thing.

Norm, I also replied at length to comments made by ‘Sarah3000’ but evidently they did not ‘stick.’ Is that because I am not yet a paid subscriber?

Hi, Norm. I seem to be able to have my comments “stick” now. I’m hoping the fix will last.
